In recent years Tetbury Town Council (TTC) has provided over £40,000 towards youth provision in our town. In 2019, a TTC Youth Committee was established and along with the £10,000 grant given to the Tetbury Area Youth and Community Trust (TAYCT) the Town Council has allocated a further £10,000 for Enhanced Youth Services to enable provision to be extended from 7.30pm to 9.30pm so this will allow the older youth provision to be covered.
In recent years, TTC were advised by Cotswold District Council that over 800 housing units needed to be built in Tetbury, at the time the Town Council requested that the S106 monies be shared with the Dolphins Hall, Goods Shed and the SWR Sports Centre.
The S106 allocation for the Dolphins Hall are as follows:
£359,466 to be used for the purpose of improvements to Tetbury Community Hall
£124,800 providing a complete new hall to be built adjacent to the site of the current building that will provide modern sports and leisure facilities and extra community space.
£39,000 Dolphin Hall contribution
TTC have also resolved to provide a £100,000 Public Works Loan for the payment being used solely to support development of the main Community Hall.
The planning decision made by CDC which was approved on 26th August 2020, is for a new Community Hall and Sports and Youth Building, pair of semi-detached dwellings and all associated landscaping at Dolphins Hall. TTC has concerns that the whole project may stall after phase 1 (Sports and Youth Building) due to the possibility of a shortfall in funds to complete the full project.
