Tetbury Town Council, who set up the allotments, have been looking for land for more and this may happen as part of the new development at Highfield Farm.
At the AGM held recently, a new committee was formed, with Derek Bloxham as Chairman. Subscriptions of £40 per large allotment and £35 for smaller ones, were paid for this year. All 28 allotments are currently being cultivated and there is a short waiting list of just seven people. Allotment holders at the meeting discussed various successes and failures and it was obvious that not only do they enjoy the growing but also the social chat. Allotment holders were reminded that The Priory Inn are happy to exchange meal vouchers for fresh locally grown vegetables and various holders had been glad to do that when overwhelmed with produce from their allotment.
